Břevnov Monastery Brewery

Břevnov is renowned for its charming monastery. But the complex isn’t just a cloistered centre of spiritual meditation – visitors are also invited to the brewery at the site. Although it opened in 2012, this business is far from new. The famous brewery tradition here, which dates back to the 10th century, is continued with enthusiastic respect. At that time, the oldest brewery in the Czech Republic was built at Břevnov. Famous Czech beers and various unusual specialities are produced here. The business is growing, and recently a brand-new bar opened, with a wide range of house beers. You can enjoy them on their own or try them with a delicious lunch. But be aware that the bar closes at 6 p.m. and on Mondays as early as 5 p.m.

You can buy beer in wonderful barrels and bottles, but of course you must try a quiet drink in the restaurant. And for a truly beautiful experience, don’t forget to explore the adjoining garden and admire the monastery’s Baroque buildings, the ponds, and the quiet corners.
