Cantina

This Mexican restaurant, the first of its kind in Prague, has been in existence since 1997. It is located near the Petřín funicular station, at the foot of the hill. The dishes on the menu are rich in intense flavours, with no skimping on spices. Among the most popular dishes at the Cantina are jalapeño peppers stuffed with cheddar cheese as an appetiser, and tacos conchinita pibil, which are corn cakes topped with minced pork and grilled, flavoured with roucou, as a main course. At the Cantina, you'll also find traditional Aztec soups with beans and corn, salmon ceviche marinated with a strong hint of coriander, and the favourite dish of Texas cowboys: fajitas. These are cooked in cast-iron pans and come in six varieties: chicken, beef, prawn, vegetarian, two-meat or pork tenderloin. Don't forget to try the quesadillas and burritos too. There's something for vegetarians too, with a hearty spinach quesadilla or a burrito topped with a mixture of courgette, tomatoes, button mushrooms and kidney beans.
