Main description
The Strahov Monastery with its two baroque bell towers is one of the most famous landmarks in Prague. Founded in the 12th century by the Premonstratensian order, it has an amazing cabinet of curiosities (precious manuscripts and miniatures, natural collections...) and a baroque library of exceptional beauty.
The Loreto, an important Marian pilgrimage site, also houses a magnificent treasure trove of sacred art behind its beautiful façade.
The Hradčany district was a privileged place for the most noble families who built their private mansions close to the emperor. It also has many palaces from the Renaissance to the Baroque period that express the power and magnificence of the Bohemian aristocracy.
In stark contrast, a stroll through the picturesque "New World" will reveal a quiet corner where time seems to have stood still for at least two centuries.
