“U Kalicha” is a traditional Czech pub that has been around for over a hundred years. It was the favourite pub of the brave soldier Švejk, the main character in Jaroslav Hašek’s novel of the same name. The walls of the main room are decorated with quotes from the cult novel and giant reproductions of Josef Lada’s illustrations for the book. The restaurant’s customers, including former president Václav Havel, add their own comments and signatures.
On New Year’s Eve, a genuine old Prague celebration awaits you at this famous venue. Platters laden with food and beer flowing freely will accompany this evening where you will discover the unique atmosphere of the popular Czech breweries. The dinner will be set to the rhythm of traditional music, with the motto “eat and drink as much as you can, and above all, have as much fun”.
