Founded in 1903, the Rückl family crystal works in Nižbor is one of the best-known Czech crystal works. Located less than 40 kilometres from Prague in the small town of Nižbor, on the banks of the River Berounka, it welcomes visitors to tour the factory workshop. Here, they will see the finest glassblowers, engravers and polishers at work, and learn about the process of making Bohemian crystal.
Although the crystal works exports all over the world and employs nearly 200 people, it has nevertheless retained the artisanal character for which it is renowned. Its products include lead crystal, blown, cut, engraved and hand-painted.
In recent years, the collections have been modernised and the glassworks collaborates with designers such as Rony Plesl, who are revitalising the image of the brand and Bohemian crystal, making the new pieces modern and up to date.
You can also buy pieces in the crystal shop, which offers rock-bottom prices.
And if you can’t take them with you, the boutique will send them to your home!
