In Prague, you’ll perhaps notice people boarding the metro, bus or tram without stamping tickets. Many locals have a monthly or annual season ticket downloaded on the Lítačka chip card, which is in their own name. This prepaid card allows unlimited travel on Prague public transport.
In certain European cities, if you’re staying for a week or longer you can purchase a favourable ticket used by local residents. In Prague, this is not really the case, and it is possible that you may not need to use public transport as the historic center isn’t large, and it’s possible that you could spend your time in the city without the need for a ticket. Moreover, there are simpler ways to get a transport ticket (see our article public transport tickets in Prague).
However, if you prefer to have a Lítačka card, we recommend its downloadable electronic version via the app "PID Lítačka" on Google play or on the App store.
