The Rückl glassworks was founded in 1903 in the Central Bohemian town of Nižbor. It is a family business which, like many others, was nationalized following the Second World War. Nevertheless, production continued, under the Bohemia brand, until 1992. The company was then taken over by Jiří Rückl, the grandson of the founder.
The company exports products to all corners of the world and employs about 200 people, and yet it has still retained its artisan spirit. It manufactures and offers a wide range of blown lead crystal, which is cut, engraved or hand-painted.
The production hall of the Nižbor glass factory is located near Prague (about 45 minutes) and is open to the public throughout the year. You can watch the whole process of crystal production, from blowing, engraving, through to decorating. Apart from that, it is possible to purchase glass products directly from the factory shop.
Beginning at the end of 2017, Nižbor glass products are also available in Prague, directly opposite the Stavovské Theatre, in the appropriately named Rückl Flagship Store. In this shop you will find stylish glass products that are in tune with the times and intentionally deviate from the classical concept of glass making. You can buy great wedding gifts in here.
