Main description
The Jewish Quarter of Prague is the seat of memory of a people and a past time. It is present in everyone’s mind through its famous myths and legends, such as that of Rabbi Löw and the Golem, but also in the collective memory of Europe through its influence on the arts, culture and the legacy left to us by Franz Kafka, Max Brod and many others.
The visit allows you to discover the history of the Jewish community from the 10th to the 20th century, one of the most important minorities in Bohemia before the Holocaust. The collections of the Jewish Museum are among the richest in the world, to apprehend the art, customs and Jewish traditions of Central Europe. The tragedy of the Holocaust is also the subject of a memorial, a moving place of memory. Finally, you will walk through the Old Jewish Cemetery and its tangle of historical steles, with its powerful poetry.
