V Zátiší

V Zátiší restaurant is a gourmet gem hidden in a tangle of picturesque Old Town streets near the Bethlehem Chapel. It was one of the first luxury restaurants to open after 1989, and since then it has sparkled in the Prague culinary scene. The great success of this restaurant is mainly down to the sophisticated Czech and international cuisine, a superb range of domestic and foreign wines, and an elegant interior. Numerous international awards signify the quality of this restaurant.

The precision applied to the dishes is still the responsibility of Indian Mahavir Kansval, whose home country inspired one of the degustation menus and part of the à la carte menu. Tandoori oven dishes, whether with marinated tiger prawns or chicken, remain the backbone of the Asian offers; Czech dishes dominate the traditional, more down to earth recipes, mostly from South Bohemia. The à la carte menu is complemented by Czech and Asian dishes inspired by Italian and French cuisine.

At V Zátiší, he treats all the culinary traditions from which he draws inspiration with respect: instead of crazy fusion, each of the traditions find their own space. Renowned Czech designer Barbora Hamplová (Škorpilová), was entrusted with the restaurant interior design. The restaurant name, “Still Life” or “Secluded Spot”, refers to the island of tranquillity in the middle of a large city, but also to an artist’s studio, from which the designer drew inspiration. You can find plaster models of flowers, a library, flying candles, and a collection of Czech still lifes, including originals and reproductions of works by Czech artists such as Václav Špála, Max Švabinský and Jan Zrzavý.

V Zátiší is a favourite restaurant of Prague business people, who frequent it for business lunches and private dinners. You can also go there to celebrate an important life event or a new year. You can look forward to just the right amount of showiness and the highest quality service.
