The nephew and namesake of one of the most important Czech painters of the 20th century, Zdeněk Sklenář, originally founded the Gallery in the 1990s, in Litomyšl, East Bohemia. In 2001, he moved to Smetanovo Embankment in Prague. The exhibition space is currently open in the palace DRN (Turf) original 21st century building, with an entrance on Mikulandská Street
The Galerie Zdeněk Sklenář presents Czech art from the late 19th century to the present day, in the Czech Republic and beyond. Besides hosting exhibitions, the gallery also sells artwork, and publishes material in the form of graphic albums, monographs on Czech artists, and exhibition catalogues.
If you’re going to Litomyšl on an excursion, take a look at the programme of the gallery in Mariánská Street and pay a visit.
